The type of economic activity "Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries" includes the use of plant and animal natural resources, including Farming, growing and breeding of farm animals, the production of forest products, forest and other plants, animals and products of animal origin on farms or in the natural environment.

In this type of economic activity 45.9 thousand active enterprises of Ukraine (7.6% of the total number of active enterprises) are employed. Three of the leaders in the number of active enterprises include Odessa (9.4% of the number of active enterprises of Ukraine of this type of economic activity), Dnipropetrovsk (8.7%) and Mykolaiv (8.5%) of the oblast.

The volume of sales of goods (goods, services) by enterprises of this type of economic activity is UAH 404 billion (6.5% of the total volume of sales).

The employed population in agriculture, forestry and fishing was 5866.5 thousand people. The need for employers in employees according to the data of the State Employment Service at the end of 2016 amounted to 1.5 thousand people. The dynamics of needs testifies to the seasonal nature of labor, the highest level of need is observed in early April (14.3 thousand people). In 2016, 110,1 thousand people were employed in this type of economic activity from the total number of registered unemployed. This is the highest employment rate (26.9%) of the registered unemployed.

The average monthly wage in this type of economic activity is 4195 UAH (of which in agriculture - 3916 UAH), which is 19% lower than in the economy as a whole. Traditionally, women receive wages by 17.8% lower than men.
