The type of economic activity "Information and telecommunications" includes the production and dissemination of information and cultural products, the provision of a method for the transmission and distribution of these products, as well as data and information, information technology activities, data processing and other information services activities.
The main components of this activity are: publishing, which includes software publishing; Production of films and audio recordings; Activities in the field of broadcasting and television; Activities in the field of telecommunications; Activity in the field of information technologies and provision of other informational services.
In this type of economic activity 12,300 active enterprises of Ukraine are employed (2% of the total number of active enterprises). The leader in the number of active enterprises is the city of Kyiv - 5265 enterprises (42.8% of the number of active enterprises of this type of economic activity), followed by Kharkiv (7.2%) and Dnipropetrovsk (6.4%) of the oblast.
The volume of sold products (goods, services) by enterprises of this type of economic activity - 116.4 billion UAH (1.9% of the total volume of sales).
The employed population at enterprises with a view of economic activity "Information and telecommunications" amounted to 275.2 thousand people (1.7% of the total employment of the country). The need for employers in employees according to the data of the state employment service at the end of 2016 amounted to 0.4 thousand people. In 2016, out of the total number of registered unemployed, 3,000 people were employed in this type of economic activity. It is 16,4% lower than in the previous year and accounts for 0,7% of the total number of the employed unemployed.
The average monthly wage in this type of economic activity in 2016 is UAH 9530, which is 83.9% higher than in the economy as a whole. Employees of information and telecommunications were traditionally the most waged in the country in 2016, along with aviation transport, financial and insurance activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, and among industrial activities - those working in the enterprises producing basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals, extractive Industry and career development: wages in these types of activities exceeded the average economy by 1.4-4.8 times. However, in the gender aspect, women's payroll in information and telecommunications is 22.7% lower than that of men.
